With just over 90 days until the opener against Ball State, Bucknuts takes a closer look at the projected defensive starters for Ohio State. The defense is a crucial aspect of the team's success, and the Buckeyes are aiming to build a strong foundation for the upcoming season.
Defensive Line:
Defensive End: Kenyatta Jackson Jr. is expected to step up as the top pass rusher, having earned his first starting opportunity last season. His leadership and improved play make him a key player in his final year with the Buckeyes. Beau Atkinson, a senior with experience in the ACC, is another option at defensive end. He has the potential to return to his previous form, but the coaching staff is also considering rotating players like sophomore Zion Grady and Alabama transfer Qua Russaw.
3-tech: Eddrick Houston, who struggled last season, is determined to prove himself again. He showed improvement during spring practice and has the talent to become the player the Buckeyes expect him to be. John Walker, a former top-100 recruit, is also in the mix at defensive tackle.
