The incident, which occurred in August 2025, involved an alleged unpaid purchase at a duty-free shop in Singapore. Despite the situation being resolved quickly with the help of the Italian Embassy, the Italian Swimming Federation took disciplinary action, resulting in a 90-day suspension for both athletes.

The suspension meant Pilato and Tarantino missed out on major competitions, including the European Short Course Championships. But now, with the suspension over, Pilato is back and ready to prove herself once again.
"I'm excited to get back into the pool and let my swimming do the talking," she says.
As Pilato resumes full training in Rome under the guidance of Mirko Nozzolillo, her competitive schedule is set to include the Italian LC Championships and the European Championships in Paris.
